Escondido Eyecare prides itself on providing the highest standards of vision care.
Therefore, our office uses a state-of-the-art camera to take laser-scanned retinal images (Retinal Imaging) as well as cross section pictures (known as OCT. It’s like an ultrasound, but using light instead of sound) of the retina (the back of your eyes), the macula and the optic nerve (the connection between your eyes and your brain).
The retina is susceptible to a variety of diseases and it is essential to catch any problems early to avoid irreversible vision loss.

The regular prices are $120 for Retinal Imaging and $80 for OCT Scan.
Our office has deeply discounted these procedures so that the copay for both images is $49. It is not covered by any insurance.
This is in addition to your insurance’s exam copay.


By scheduling your eye exam online, you agree to pay these copays.


This often provides early detection of several eye diseases, such as: Retinal tumors and cancer, Retinal detachment, Diabetic retinopathy, Macular degeneration, Glaucoma and many more.
​As an example, the doctor found a retinal detachment in a patient. It would not have been detected without this instrument and she would have been blind in one eye. Luckily we were able to refer her right away to the retinal specialist who was able to reattach the patient’s retina and prevented her from going blind.
The images are saved and then used to compare future digital images every year to detect changes in your retinal health.
